Loaves and Fishes receives $3,000 grant from Macy's

Thank you to Macy's for a $3,000 grant to Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa! Macy's, Inc. supports thousands of nonprofit organizations annually because they believe giving back is the right thing to do. It's a long-standing tradition and one that they are very proud of. Their employees also believe in giving back. Employees donated more than 122,000 hours of their personal time to community service.

The Macy's Foundation granted over $27 million to 4,500 nonprofit organizations in 2010. HIV/AIDS is one of their focus areas; this funding is designated for meals and nutrition programs, prevention and awareness efforts, research and counseling programs. The “My Macy's District Grants program” provided funds to the 69 Macy's operating districts where they grant to local organizations. With all the requests that Macy’s receives yearly, Loaves and Fishes is honored to be supported. The $3,000 grant will be used to support our operations of feeding the hungry daily.  With increasing food costs and donations down, this grant is very much appreciated.
